Welcome to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church
St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church is under the administration of the India Evangelical Lutheran Church (IELC), a member of the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). Additionally IELC is affiliated with the World Council of Churches (WCC), and the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) through the United Evangelical Lutheran Churches in India (UELCI). Consecrated in 1932 by Rev.Duncan, S.Stevenson, an American missionary, the church had humble beginnings in a small hut on Pettigrew Street, Shivaji Nagar, Bangalore, India.
Initially a modest congregation, its growth led to the construction of a new building in 1964 on Promenade Road, Frazer Town, with a seating capacity of 250.The congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary in the new building on January 12, 2014(1964–2014). The church is actively involved in a Socio-economic Development Programme benefiting children from underprivileged, poor, and down trodden segments of society.
